Groups for Parents

 

Parenting can be challenging. I work to provide a supportive environment where parents can learn from each other and hear current research on parenting practices and childhood development to make informed decisions about how they choose to help their children make adaptive choices at home, at school, and in life.

New Parents

Whether it is your first child or not, you can benefit from the support of others who are coping with an infant's challenging schedule. Topics include:

Child development stages

Sleep hygiene

Minimizing Sibling rivalry

Parenting in the social network / comparision age

 

Parents of young children
 

When your child starts to face the world you have to be able to parent in tandem with others. Parents of children rougly four to nine talk about:

School challenges

Extracurricular activities

Quality family time

Play dates and social skills

Parenting in the Middle
 

Parents of children between roughly 10 and fifteen face new challenges, both inside school and inside the home. Learn what you may not know about:

Brain development in early adolescence and puberty

Bullying real-time and online

The final stretch of active parenting through high school and possibly those initial college years takes skill and finese working with your young adult to benefit from your knowledge and experience. This group works towards understanding:
